Description
This Bear Mask was hand-carved by Kwakwaka wakw artist Junior Henderson. It has been carved from red cedar, painted in black, red, maroon, and dark yellow acrylic, and features 2 copper onlays on the eyes and 6 bundles of cedar bark.
The Bear Symbol represents strength, family, vitality courage and health. The bear is thoughtful and independent, with little need for fellowship. The bear is also self-contained and strong-willed in nature. A Bear is of great support and comfort to those who crave human company simply for personal reassurance rather than for the simple pleasure of being with friends. He makes lonely periods of life far easier.

The mask including the cedar bark measures approximately 20 inches or 50 1 2 centimeters high, 20 inches or 50 1 2 centimeters wide, and 12 inches or 30 1 2 centimeters deep.
