Hunter of the Woods Mask Hot on Sale
Description
This At la kwis or Hunter of the Woods Mask was hand-carved by Kwakwaka wakw artist Bill Henderson. The Hunter has been carved from red cedar, while the Raven on top has been carved from yellow cedar. The mask has been painted in red, black, and green acrylic and features a bundle of cedar bark on either side.
The mask measures approximately 21 inches or 53 centimeters high, 17 inches or 43 centimeters wide, and 13 inches or 33 centimeters deep. The mask has been signed and dated by the artist.
This piece was part of our exhibition “Looking After a Legacy: Through the Grains of Cedar” which ran from September 3rd to December 31st 2022.
