This Sun and Moon Mask is hand-carved by Kwakwaka wakw artist Bill Henderson. It has been carved from yellow cedar and painted in black, light yellow, dark yellow, maroon, and white acrylic.
The Sun Symbol represents life-giving abundance with its warmth radiating healing and peace.

The mask measures approximately 30 inches or 76 centimeters in diameter and 4 inches or 10 centimeters deep.
This piece is part of our exhibition “Looking After a Legacy: Through the Grains of Cedar” which opens on September 3rd 2022. While this artwork is available for purchase, we do ask to hold the piece at the gallery until October 3rd 2022 for the first month of the exhibition.
